Resources for These Times
Recently Published LeaderLab Pages

Updated LeaderLab Pages
  • We continue to update Congregations as Employers During the COVID-19 Pandemic. (The new articles listed above can be found under Featured Resources on this page.)
  • Federal Policies and Actions Related to COVID-19 contains resources developed by the Office of Church Staff Finances and other sources about the Families First and CARES Acts. (At the time of this writing, we're waiting for official information from the Small Business Administration on the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act, which eases PPP loan forgiveness criteria. We will update our page to include this information.)

From Starting to Parting Re-Issued
From Starting to Parting , last updated in 2016, has just been republished. This resource was written to help congregations support their music and religious education staff, in particular, but much of the guidance can be applied to other staff, as well. You'll find advice on hiring, welcoming new staff, providing ongoing support, and ensuring healthy departures.
Welcoming Our New Team Member
Many of you have gotten to know Patti Angelina, our Insurance Plans Manager. We wished Patti a joyful and well-deserved retirement last month.

We're pleased to announce that William Lester has joined our team as Associate Director for Insurance Plans. William writes:

"I’m delighted to have joined the Office of Church Staff Finances. I look forward to working closely with our congregations and members. I’m a UU humanist passionate about health equity and affordable care for all. I come to the UUA with over 15 years of managed care experiences and numerous years of public health advocacy work. Healthy living is a major part of my identity which includes balancing spiritual, physical, mental and financial well-being powered by health sciences."

Contact William at WLester@uua.org with questions about any of our insurance plans. He will answer your questions or direct you to the right expert resource.
Free Financial Education (and maybe even $25)
When UU Retirement Plan participants go to tiaa.org/ uua , they’ll find webinars on featured topics including lifetime income, interactive online tools, market volatility and more. Scroll down and click on "Register for a live webinar in June." (Most webinars will also be available on demand for 30 days after delivery.)

Participant messages from the UUA and TIAA this month share additional educational opportunities, along with information on how to maybe even win a $25 AMEX gift card by taking the TIAA Digital Challenge 06/22 – 07/01.

If your congregation has adopted the UU Retirement Plan, we encourage you to make sure that staff are aware of these opportunities. (And perhaps this is a good time to remind all of your employees that they can participate in the UU Retirement Plan: every staff member, regardless of hours of length of service, can make voluntary contributions by enrolling and authorizing pre-tax salary deferrals.)
