Myrtle Beach, SC
"Hi! I have been painting for about 12 years. My training has consisted of sumi, watercolor and acrylic classes. I also have done fused glass in the past years. My specialty was masks. I am a transplant from Ohio. My current teachers in South Carolina have been Danny Laughlin and William Miller. I live in Socastee.
Strong color greatly appeals to me. I also like paintings that show a lot of energy and draw you in to perhaps make up a story to go with the picture. Art and creative expression is very important to me. As a retired special education teacher, using the arts with my students really helped them to expand both their creative and cognitive skills. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.
Sumi lesson for about 6 years helped me to develop a discipline for strokes. I have a tendency to become immersed in a painting - especially an abstract. To paint a picture which is an exactly replica is not my forte. Perhaps someday!
I have shown in Gloucester, Akron, Erie, North Canton, and currently in Myrtle Beach and Georgetown. I hope you like my picture, Morning Sail.
