Monthly welcome potluck lunches continue to be popular among Institute students and volunteers. Since the beginning of the year, more than 25 groups have prepared, served, and chatted with new arrivals at our monthly lunches. Most recently, participating groups have included Welcome Neighbor STL, The Ethical Society, Central Presbyterian Church, Living Word UMC, Priory Cooking Club, The Islamic Foundation of St. Louis, Compton Heights Church, and The School Sisters of Notre Dame. Sign up for a future date by contacting Kelly Moore at moorek@iistl.org.

Recently, Captain Michael Deeba, Commander of the Second District for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, made safety presentations to multiple Institute classes over several days. "Our clients face heightened safety risks beyond fears of robbery and the like," said Anna Crosslin IISTL CEO. "They are also fearful of their personal safety as a result of the rise in anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim hostility."
