Following their bishop's address to the convention, the delegates and clergy of the Diocese of Western Michigan were moved to pass a resolution honoring our process of discernment and calling for prayer as they continue their own process and for all decision makers.
Two weeks ago at our diocesan convention, our delegates and clergy chose to invite the Diocese of Western Michigan to a conversation around shared ministry, beginning with the nomination of the Rt. Rev. Whayne Hougland to serve as bishop provisional in Eastern Michigan while he serves as bishop diocesan in Western Michigan. Bishop Hougland described the conversation and how Western Michigan will pick up the conversation next Winter and Spring during his address to their convention the following weekend.
A video of his address is available
with that section beginning at about 57 minutes.
The text of the resolution is below.

Be it further resolved, that we will hold our Standing Committee and Diocesan Council in our prayers as they discern and act on what is best for us, our diocese, our Bishop and the larger community going forward,
Be it further resolved, that we commit ourselves to being open to and actively involved in working together with the Diocese of Eastern Michigan in what ever forms the future brings.
