Dear Point Reyes National Seashore ,
At the end of April, I joined partners from across the country in Washington D.C. to advocate for our national parks. At a time of unprecedented change and worrying uncertainty for these treasured places, PRNSA proudly stood with fellow advocates during the National Park Foundation’s (NPF) Hill Day to champion our parks and the communities that depend on them.
This was my first visit to Capitol Hill, and given the current climate, it felt especially meaningful. I was part of a small delegation of nonprofit leaders representing the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Together, we met with the offices of Representatives Lateefah Simon, Nancy Pelosi, Zoe Lofgren, Jared Huffman, and Mike Thompson, as well as the office of Senator Adam Schiff to advocate for NPS funding and discuss staffing concerns and deferred maintenance needs.

Altogether, park partners from across the country held over 250 meetings with members of both chambers of Congress from across the political spectrum. Our collective voice was powerful. The day after our visit, bipartisan legislation was introduced to extend the Legacy Restoration Fund, which supports critical infrastructure projects across the national park system, including those at Point Reyes National Seashore.
It was an honor to represent the many people who care for Point Reyes National Seashore in Washington—not just NPS and PRNSA staff, but also park visitors, supporters, members, partners, and volunteers. . . all of you! The unique relationships and stories of connection our community has to this place are energizing, and that energy carried through into our congressional meetings—after all, who wouldn’t want to talk about some of the world’s most beautiful places?
| | I’m happy to be back on the ground here at the Seashore, as committed as ever to our shared conservation, education, and community-building goals, and with a deep gratitude to the National Park Foundation. Their leadership and thoughtful planning made this trip not only possible, but truly meaningful. If you’d like to add your voice to the chorus of many speaking out for our remarkable public lands, take action here, or contact your representatives. | | |

In February, two Seashore rangers and two winter wildlife docents ventured down to Baja California on a six-day exploration to learn more about and observe gray whales and their calves. The group brought their experiences back to share widely with park guests as well as fellow volunteers and rangers, underscoring their dedication to making visitor experiences at the Seashore as rich as possible.
