Standing for Truth & Contending for the Faith

At the Faith & Freedom Center, we are excited to update you about the many ways our team has been able to engage the culture for the Glory of God as we look back on the first quarter of this year.

To date, we have been able to educate lawmakers on principles of good governance in Michigan, Colorado, Washington DC, and around the world on 16 different public policy propositions since January. Our legal team is engaged in defending religious liberty and parental rights in cases currently before the US Supreme Court, US Court of Appeals, and Colorado Supreme Court. We have also provided 240 confidential instances of worldview and legal counsel, most of which relates to the governmental interference with the free exercise of religious conscience.

Professor Wagner had the honor and delight of training pastors from 14 Caribbean nations. Topics covered included Contending for the Faith, Principles of Good Governance, and Preserving the Rule of Law. It is such a blessing to work with these strong leaders who have tender hearts for the Lord.

This month, our team also had the incredible privilege to meet with more than 80 pro-life leaders to strategize about defending life, share resources for good-governance at a statewide convention, and most of all, see God touch the lives of students at Spring Arbor University. All glory to Him!

Judges & Pronouns: Prof. Wagner on Gruber

Professor Wagner had the honor of appearing on Steve Gruber’s show recently to talk about a proposed rule effecting all of the judiciary in the state of Michigan. If passed, the rule would violate religious conscience and could preclude judges who hold a Judeo-Christian worldview from serving. It could lead to other First Amendment issues like compelled speech and censorship as well. Watch the interview for details here, or continue reading here for an excerpt from his comment to the MI Supreme Court.

The Truth About the Equal Rights Amendment

You may recall reading about the so called “Equal Rights Amendment” in your history books, but did you know that this failed attempt to amend the US Constitution is resurfacing in the US Congress right now? The ERA is anything but what its name suggests, and while its sponsors tout that the proposal would ensure equal protection for women, the reality is that it devalues women and stands to undo decades of real human progress and equality. Continue reading to learn the truth on the ERA.

MI Poised to Allow Unrestrained Abortion

The proposed repeal of all protection for unborn children by Michigan’s legislature is bad public policy. In moving to completely repeal Michigan’s protections for human life in the womb, legislators do not, as claimed, merely replace Michigan’s law with Roe. By default, their proposed legislation legalizes unrestricted late-term abortion, partial-birth abortion, and infanticide, now possible due to the passage of Prop 3 last November. No state interest greater than the protection of human life exists. And no life more in need of state protection exists than that of a vulnerable, defenseless pre-born child. Read more.

Heroines of the Faith Series: Fanny Crosby

Widely regarded as “the most prolific and significant writer of gospel songs in American History,” Fanny Crosby authored beloved hymns including, “Blessed Assurance,” “Near the Cross,” “Redeemed,” “Tell Me the Story of Jesus,” and “To God be the Glory.” What most people don’t know about Fanny Crosby is that she was blind from infancy. Her story is a beautiful example of how God uses trials to refine us, to teach us to depend on Him, and to equip us for the calling He has placed on our lives. Read Fanny's amazing story here.
