We began these Covid updates one year ago this week and have compiled a timeline below of some of the major events of the last year. I do not think any of us realized the path that lay before us and that the effects of this pandemic would impact us so strongly and for so long. As of today there are 122 million documented cases and 2.6 million deaths worldwide. Much has been taken, from so many, in so many different ways, it is hard to reconcile the scale of the impact.
What does give me comfort is the example each of you has set every day for the last year. Despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles we managed to show up every day for our patients. Whether behind masks and goggles or through telemedicine, we dealt with Covid while managing to all the other needs of our patients. Our practices never closed and we restored full services as quickly as any network, if not sooner. We accomplished this while enduring tremendous financial pressure, keeping our offices open and supporting our employees. Despite significant pressure we never wavered from the best principles of evidence based medicine as we helped our patients prevent, diagnose and treat this awful disease.
Although there remains much more to do, I am confident that the lessons we have learned will carry us forward stronger and for the better.
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square, Sing
I hope that in days long ahead you will remember the work you did here and find solace in the role you played of what for many of us will be the most important work of our lives.
It has been an honor and privilege for all of us here at CMG to have played whatever role we could to help you through the last year.
Stay Safe.
Be Well.
God Bless
