New Stanford Hospital Exterior Building Samples are Removed from Welch Road

With the new Stanford Hospital preparing to open this fall, the exterior building samples along Welch Road are being removed to make way for final landscaping. Since 2012, these full-size mock-ups allowed the design team to evaluate how the actual colors, finishes and materials perform and respond as part of the campus landscape prior to beginning construction. From left to right, the materials included stone and pre-cast base, pre-cast concrete, a patient pavilion window panel, garden floor glass and metal panel, and mechanical louvers. Each of these materials now make up the fabric of the hospital exterior.
