Dear MCC,
Last night we had a beautiful worship service for Ash Wednesday and now we are in my favorite liturgical season of the year, Lent! This year our theme is “Everything In Between” and will examine the ways Jesus’ ministry was rooted in relationships that disrupted the established social, political, and religious divides of his time.
Lent is a time of focusing on our spirituality, connection to God, and preparing our hearts for Jesus to go to the cross. The beauty of this is that love will defeat death. We know that is where the season will take us, yet we venture toward the cross and through the crucifixion every year.
Many people give up something for Lent. I encourage you to take on a spiritual practice for this season. You may want to journey through Lent with the Lenten devotional from our friends at A Sanctified Art. Please click here to access the online version or request a paper copy.
We will be starting our Wednesday Night Lent Series next week, on March 12. At 6:00 p.m. we will have a 30-minute devotional time, followed by yoga at 6:30. I really encourage you to do both!
