Library Programs - October 2022
Star Party, Bigfoot & More!
October is jam-packed full of fun and learning at Chartiers-Houston Community Library. We have our annual Star Party, a Bigfoot presentation, and a new program called Maker Monday for All. Take a look inside this newsletter for more information on October programs.
Annual Star Party - Saturday, October 8th at 7:00 pm
The library will be hosting the annual Star Party on October 8th at 7pm. This is always a popular event at CHCL, so be sure to mark your calendar. We will hear a presentation at 7:00 pm by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh and then get to view the night sky through their equipment immediately following.
Storytimes with Mrs. Susan
Storytimes will be held each Thursday and will include activities for our preschoolers, as well as board books, puzzles, and puppets for all ages (babies-5 years old). We have our line-up set through the end of October and are very excited for what's on the schedule.

Registration is not required, however it is recommended in case we would need to contact participants of any changes.

Storytimes are set for 11:30 am on Thursdays and take place prior to opening to the public in order to keep the health and well-being of all our youngest readers in mind. If the weather is conducive to being outside, we will hold stories and songs outdoors in the side yard next to the parking lot and then come inside for crafts, activities and social time.

Bigfoot Presentation - Thursday, October 20th @ 5:30pm
We will be hosting Doug Waller, Bigfoot Investigator and Author, on Thursday, October 20th at 5:30 pm. Doug has been researching and writing about bigfoot for many years. Come learn more about the unique bigfoot creature at our FREE event.

"Doug Waller has been fascinated with the legend of Bigfoot for over thirty years. In 2006 he began seriously researching sightings of Bigfoot in his home state of Ohio, with particular interest in southeastern Ohio, where he lives. He began interviewing witnesses and compiling their accounts which led to his series of books Standing in the Shadows (2013), Hidden Encounters (2015), Screams in the Night (2017), Bigfoot Reports (2018) and his newest book, Silent Forest: More Bigfoot Mysteries (2020)." ~ Taken from Mr. Waller's bio information

For more information or to register for this event, call the library at 724-745-4300.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities
TEENS (13-17) ONLY:
Our teen volunteers have been hard at work helping staff prepare for programs. Teens who need hours for school or other organizations can work their time at the library. We have some wonderful young adults in the Chartiers-Houston Community! Would your teen like to join them?

If you know of a teen who would like to join our group of volunteers and Teen Advisory Group, have them get in touch with Mrs. Susan at (724) 745-4300 or email chcommunitylibrary@gmail.com.

Teens who need legal community service hours are also welcome to contact the library. Please speak with Mrs. Susan about the paperwork required to sign up for volunteer time.
