Mindfulness Walk Wins Governor's Award
The Mindfulness Walk is the winner of the 10th Annual Governor’s Award for Parks and Recreation presented by Ohio Parks and Recreation Association! Located at Petros Lake Park, The Mindfulness Walk is a one mile walk offering activities related to mental health and self care.
Survey for Those Affected by Addiction
If you live in Stark County and have been affected by addiction through personal use or friend/family member use, please consider taking the survey conducted by the Stark County Opiate Task Force. The information gathered will help to evaluate and address service gaps that exist in our community. The survey will close on February 14th.
Community Wellness Grants
StarkMHAR is offering a funding opportunity for the development of new, and continuation of current, youth programs that address social factors such as education, poverty and lack of family supports that undermine physical and mental wellness. Eligible Stark County based 501(c)3 non-profit organizations may apply for up to $2,500.
HOPE Award Nominations
Do you know someone making a difference in our community? Presented annually, the HOPE Awards honor people and organizations who are making strides and influencing change to advance behavioral health right here in Stark County. The HOPE Awards honor people and organizations within the five following categories. Nominations are due by Wednesday, March 4.

'The S Word' Movie Showing
THE S WORD is a powerful feature documentary that puts a human face on a topic that has long been stigmatized and buried with the lives it has claimed. The film gives a platform to those with lived experience - people who have attempted to take their own lives and survived to tell their stories.

Join the Suicide Prevention Coalition at the Palace Theatre on Sunday, March 8 at 1:00pm for a FREE showing of the film.
CIT Award Nominations
The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Awards honor people who are advancing best practice in encounters involving people who may be struggling with substance abuse and/or a mental illness. The CIT awards recognize those who are making a significant positive impact in Stark County efforts to use de-escalation techniques in crisis situations improving the safety of the officer, consumer and family. Nominations are due by Wednesday, March 4.
