Park Restrooms
Park restrooms will be closed on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31), and New Years Day (Jan. 1).

Dodge Park Ice Rink
  • Ice Rink will be open on Friday, Dec. 31 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed Saturday, Jan. 1.

Each month our Adaptive Recreation will host Game Night & Puzzle Contest and we want you to join us!

Play a game as a family or a small group, enter the puzzle contest or join the Bingo game. Let's hang out, make friends, get out of the house and most importantly -- have fun!

This is a safe family space with a calming room available if needed.
Winter activities are the best, to sleigh the least, and it's the perfect day for an outdoor adventure at one of our many parks!

Even dogs have New Year's resolutions too! Help your pup stay active in 2022 with a yearlong pass to the Sterling Heights Dog Park!

Funded through the Recreating Recreation millage, enjoy the off-leash facility that features picnic tables, fencing, water fountain, dog bag dispensers, and much more! The all dog area is 1.25 acres, and the small dog area is .75 acres.
 
Anyone who wishes to use the Dog Park can get an access card by submitting an application along with photo ID, copy of dog's current vaccinations, copy of current dog license paperwork, initialed Code of Conduct form, and payment.
 
Applications can be submitted via email, mail or in person to the Parks & Recreation Department. All new dog park pass holders get a free welcome gift courtesy of Pet Supplies Plus.

Our Adult Esports Division will face off on Jan. 13 in a Smash Bro's tournament through round robin and bracket play.

Learn, create and explore with your little one in our early childhood room designed with our youngest residents in mind!

Join us in our upcoming Little Learners classes featuring activities that vary to fit the appropriate developmental stage of your child.

All of our classes share the same goals of motor skill development, sensory exploration, literacy, following directions, listening, peer interaction, and more!
The Teen Room is a unique space providing teens ages 12 to 17 a gathering place to study, hang-out, and participate in special themed programming!

A completed registration form must be on file at the Welcome Desk (completed by both parent and participant) in order to utilize the Teen Room.

Teen Night Out
Join us for Teen Night Out on Friday, Jan. 28 for an evening of skating at the Dodge Park Ice Rink! Whether you know how to skate or not -- come out for a fun night with your friends!
 
Space is reserved especially for teens!
Skills Class for Teens
Join us for our Wacky Winter Warm-up Afterschool Snacks class and learn how to make some treats that are perfect for the cold weather months ahead!
 
Our program will feature two quick and easy snacks and one drink you can make on your own! Supplies and recipes will be provided!
Grab your camera and head outdoors -- it’s time to capture the wonders of nature!

Pick your best and most recent nature related picture and register for our photo contest. All pictures will be on display between February 5-12 on our big picture windows facing outside. 

Contest Details:
  • Pictures should be dropped off at the Nature Center or Community Center, ATTN: Brenda Suchenek, Recreation Specialist/Naturalist
  • Pictures must be 5 x 7
  • Max 3 photos per each registration
  • This is open to Sterling Heights residents only and limited participants
  • Include your name, address & phone number on the back of each photo
  • Pictures must be submitted by Jan. 29, 2022
  • $3 per resident entry

Winner:
First place winner will get an 11x14 gallery wrapped canvas of your print and the winning photo will be displayed at the Nature Center. Second place winner will also receive a prize.
