Spring/COVID-19 Program Update

Spring Cancellation Update
At this time, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all Recreation and Community Services Department Winter-Spring session programs, events, and permits through the end of the school year (with a few exceptions: 55+ softball, Adult Softball League and American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course. If you are enrolled in one of these programs, you will be updated when information becomes available). This decision aligns with the school district decision to cancel large gatherings (concerts, conferences, completion ceremonies, etc). Please continue to check our website, Facebook and Instagram pages for updates.

COVID-19 Cancellations
Were you enrolled in a Winter-Spring session class that was cancelled due to COVID-19? In an effort to best serve you, be transparent and efficient in our communication, and provide information about your programs, we have created a link on our website titled "COVID-19 Program Updates." This page will list all programs that have been cancelled to date and share important department account credit information. Click here for COVID 19 updates

Summer 2020 Registration Update
Never could we have imagined that we would be trying to plan summer recreation programs during a worldwide pandemic.  It sure is a new challenge for us.  Given the Governor and Department of Health Service's "Safer at Home" Executive Order #28, in the best interest of all involved, we have made the extremely difficult decision to put any further summer program registration on hold.  Until further notice, we will not be accepting nor processing any summer registrations.  We thank you for your understanding and patience and once we know when we can open our doors again and welcome all you safely back to your programs, we have pressed the "pause" button on our registration processes.  When that changes, we will be sure to communicate it out via Facebook, Instagram and our Webpage.

Meet Amanda Schwichtenberg, Program Manager for the West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation and Community Services Department
Some very exciting news for the WAWM RCS Department! We are very pleased to announce that our Program Manager Amanda has been selected as the Spring 2020 Blue Block Champion for her work with Operation Recreation and incorporating the Big Blue Blocks into her events.

Congratulations Amanda! A big thank you for all your hard work, commitment, and dedication to our department, programs, and community.

Dance Recital 2020

We apologize but the WAWM RCS Department must be consistent with school district cancellations of concerts, conferences, completion ceremonies, etc. and therefore have cancelled all programs, events, classes and facility permits through the end of the school year. There will be no dance recital this year.

Once the WAWM RCS Department office reopens, original tickets purchased MUST be submitted to our administrative office with your first and last name, home address, phone number and email address printed/written on the back of the tickets. A refund check or credit to your Recreation Department account will then be issued back to you. Indicate Refund or Credit on the back of the tickets as well. Please allow time for processing the credits and refunds as we transition back to full operation. Credits to your account may be used for any department program or event and do not expire.   We will continue to take direction from the Governor's Office, Department of Health and Human Services, and the School District. When programming resumes, we plan to offer summer dance classes on Thursday evenings for 4-9 year olds. Classes offered include ballet, jazz, poms, and tap. There are also dance ballerina classes for 1-4 year olds held as part of early childhood.

If you have any questions regarding the recital, please contact Linda Gritzmacher at
