Study Suggests Video Lessons Result in Higher Retention, Engagement, via EdWeek

According to this EdWeek article , "New research suggests that video lessons result in higher levels of retention and engagement among students, compared to lectures."
If you aren't using video in your classroom, you may be interested in the course " Effective Video Production (EDU 921) ," created by Wilson College in partnership with Eduspire, to learn how to deliver intended messages in multiple content areas (connected with the ISTE standards for student learning and creativity). Through shooting, editing, and producing both original and existing material, teachers will examine the ways in which video content can effectively deliver instruction to the classroom — increasing engagement and transforming learning.

The course is offered twice this July, both as a face-to-face course in Troy, PA and as an online course.

As part of your tuition, a GoPro Hero5 will be included! We think it is important for you to have the tools you need in order to return to your classroom, fully ready to implement all you have learned in this course.
Congratulations to our MET Program Graduates!
The end of the spring 2018 semester saw the first set of graduates from the Wilson College Master of Educatonal Technology degree program in partnership with Eduspire. The program continues to grow, with approximately 250 students now having applied for the MET degree and/or the ITS certification program.
MET Spotlight: Alison Bieber
MET participant,
Alison Bieber
Meet Alison. A first grade teacher from Virginia, she is almost finished with her coursework and will soon be completing her Master of Educational Technology degree through Wilson College.

Here's a glimpse of Alison's feedback about her experience in the MET program:

We asked Alison, "What have you most enjoyed about the MET program?"
Alison said, "I really enjoy the flexibility that the MET program provides. With this program, I like being able to look through the different courses and find what I am most interested in and what I find would be most applicable for my development as a teacher as well as what works for the students I work with. I have enjoyed being able to schedule courses that run at different times throughout the semesters, and find the six weeks courses to be manageable and relevant during teaching and in the summer months."

We also asked, "How has the MET program helped you to achieve your career goals?"

Alison said, "Using technology in education is an area where I really wanted to learn more and grow, and I think this program provides me with ways to learn and try new things in education that I would not have done before. I also think this program is setting me up for a possible career as an instructional technology coach or school technology specialist which I something that I might be interested in pursuing."
