SCHOOL DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES

DROP OFF : St. Therese Campus is open from 7:30am-3:35pm. Students may be dropped off no earlier than 7:30am when adult supervision  in the basement starts. Students may sit at the tables while waiting for school to start.
Please be aware that there is no safety patrol or adult supervision in the front courtyard or school basement prior to 7:30am.  For the safety of all, no running or chasing is allowed in the basement or the schoolyard. Students who run around may be given a detention.

St. Therese staff will be present to help direct traffic and to safely guide parents and students to school during arrival (7:30-8:00am) and dismissal (3:00 - 3:35pm) times.
EVERYONE must follow instructions of school staff, student traffic aids and City of Chicago traffic management personnel for the safety of all. REMEMBER adult behavior serves either as a good or bad model for our children.
  • Whenever possible, drop off your child(ren) on the curbside only. Students should exit vehicles onto the sidewalk - parents should not take out their child from street side of the car - this is dangerous and increases traffic.
  • Cross all streets at the painted street/school crosswalks, where traffic aids are present and controlling traffic.
  • Do NOT drop off or pick up your child on Princeton Ave. - see circle on map below
  • Follow traffic instructions of school staff and student traffic aids.
  • Everyone's cooperation is essential for safety of our children, families, staff, neighbors.

PICK UP: PreK, Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st grade students are picked up directly from their classroom . When the weather is nice, PreK, Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers will direct you to pick up your child outside.  Grades 2-8 students are dismissed in the outside courtyard. Do NOT go to the 2nd-8th grade classroom to pick up your child.

When picking up or dropping off your child(ren), PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. THIS IS ILLEGAL.

Students are not allowed to remain on school property after student dismissal unless they are in the after school program or involved in a school-sanctioned extracurricular activity on that day.   Students who are not picked up will be directed to the after school program; parents will be charged a time block for after school supervision.

EARLY DISMISSAL: A minimum of 48 hours advance notice of an early dismissal (e.g., doctor's appointment) is appreciated. When picking up your child, go directly to the office and your child will be called from his/her classroom.   Do NOT go to the classroom to get your child. Always go to the office first.
Early Childhood Parent Orientation

Parents of students in Prekindergarten, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten are required to attend the Early Childhood Parent Orientation on Tuesday, August 27th. This orientation will help parents learn what to expect, including an overview of what your child's day looks like, nap time needs and routines, lunch and snack details, and other important topics.

Early Childhood Uniforms
Students in PreKindergarten, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten will be required to follow the Early Childhood Dress Code. Given how young children can easily soil their clothing, parents are strongly encouraged to purchase at least three sets. Every item of clothing should be labeled with your child's name.

Uniform gym clothes must be worn on gym days but can be worn during the week as well. The gym uniform is a St. Therese T-shirt, St. Therese shorts or sweat pants, and the St. Therese sweatshirt.   Refer to the Early Childhood Dress Code for more details

Uniforms for Students in Grades 1st through 8th
St. Therese School requires that all students in Grades 1 - 8 be in school uniform at all times (apart from designated Dress-Down Days). Please refer to the detailed   2019-2020 School Dress Code  for the full detailed description of the uniform code.

Our uniform provider is Martinelli's, located at 3517 95th St, Evergreen Park, IL 60805. They may be reached at www.shopmartinellis.com or at (708) 425-6287 with any questions.

A note about uniforms in the warmer months of school:
The blazers/sweaters need NOT to be worn if temperatures are above 75 degrees. If the classroom temperature rises throughout the day, students are allowed to remove their blazers. However, we ask that students bring their blazers on their regular dress code day. Parents should label their student's blazer with the student's name. Temperatures do drop quickly in early fall, so please be sure to purchase your uniform by the beginning of the school year.

School Uniform Exchange

A few uniform items remain for free at the St. Barbara Campus in the Lower Hall, including many sizes of boy's pants. Feel free to take what works for your family - the items will be available through the end of the day on Tuesday, August 27th.

All remaining items will be donated to charity after Tuesday.
It's School Supplies Time!

Please double-check the  School Supply List to be sure you are  ready with  supplies for the first day of school!

Please note that we ask our boy students to bring in the items identified during the first 2 weeks of the new school year, and the girl students to bring in the items when school resumes after Christmas Break in January. This helps with storage of items in the classrooms.

The link to the school supplies lists can also be found on our website under the " Families" tab.

Spirit Wear Days and Dress Down Days

Throughout the school year, the school will have scheduled Dress Down Days and Spirit Wear Days. Guidelines for dress during these days will be shared with the families at the beginning of the new school year. Once set, these dates will be posted on the School Website and reminders will also be posted around the school building at both campuses.

The school will be selling Spirit Wear at the Back to School Open House on August 20th at the St. Barbara Campus, as well as during both Parent Nights.

Each new student at St. Therese is provided with one " Blue Ribbon" t-shirt at no cost to the family. These shirts are used when students are off-campus for field trips and other events. These t-shirts may also be worn for Spirit Wear and Dress Down days.

Spirit Wear For Sale

The school has a selection of spirit wear items for sale, including Athletics t-shirts. Students enjoy wearing these on Spirit Wear Days, as well as when attending sporting events to show their school spirit! Parents are also encouraged to show St. Therese pride with the adult t-shirts too!
