Congratulations to our Zone 9 members who competed in the USHJA Zones 9 & 10 Jumper Team Championships at National Sunshine Series II November 10-12 at HITS Desert Horse Park in Thermal, California!

In the Adult Amateur team competition, Zone 9's Leslie Cox, Kimberly Bruce, Robin Tomb and Lisa Pleasance earned the silver medal.

In the 1.20/1.25m Junior/Amateur section, the combined Zone 9/10 team, which included  Tara Heffernan earned the silver medal.

Rachel Long and McKenna Norris were part of the combined Zone 9/10 team that earned silver in the 1.30/1.35m team competition.

Special thanks to Zone 9's Chef d'Equipe Katherine Wade-Easley for leading teams at the Championships.  Wade-Easley said the team environment at the championships was a positive experience for competitors.

"Riders who were normally fierce competitors now looked at each other as assets and, without fail, Zone 9 riders sat in the seats watching the other Zone 9 teams, cheering for the good rounds and sharing in the disappointment of a round that didn't go as planned. Each rider came to understand how important each of their rounds were to the team effort," Wade-Easley said. "There was a sense of pride in their own Zone, which was small, but mighty."

"For riders who are interested in participating in this event, know that it is a challenge. Come prepared to ride at the top of your game, and to go into the ring, no matter what. Your team is counting on you, just as your horse is, to step up and perform at the top of your game. But accepting the challenge is a fantastic opportunity to do just that. To challenge yourself, to get excited for your team, and to go home a better and more experienced competitor."
