Fall Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training Schedule
We're back in-person!

Join us in Little Rock on September 1, 2021 for the first in-person PSA Grower Training in over a year!

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule is the first federally regulated standard for growing, harvesting, packing, and holding fresh produce in an effort to reduce microbial contamination and foodborne illness outbreaks. If you grow fruits or vegetables, attend a training for information about best practices, risk management, and regulatory requirements.

Jonesboro, AR training date coming soon!

August 2-4
12:30-4:30 pm each day

The workshop will be split into three days and will take place from 12:30 to
4:30 pm each day. This workshop will be conducted live through Zoom*.
Who should attend:
Produce Growers, Cooperative Extension Agents, Composting Industry Members, and anyone interested in biological soil amendments of animal origin (BSAAO).
Why you should attend:
The training will cover best practices of using and making BSAAO, such as compost, within the context of the Food Safety Modernization Act's Produce Safety Rule (PSR). This rule was passed to protect the public's health by requiring farmers to understand practices for growing, harvesting, holding, and packing fresh produce that prevents food safety issues. Learn more about BSAAOs and the PSR from perspectives within industry, cooperative extension, and regulatory agencies.

An overview on the PSR and draft guidance to understand the current regulatory framework and requirements, the basics of how to compost, benefits
of using BSAAOs for the soil and the farm, and much more will be discussed over this three-day workshop.

The intent is to help growers understand risks and benefits of using BSAAOs, how to comply with the current requirements, provide an update on the status of BSAAO Risk Assessment, associated research, and discuss the possible future of the PSR Subpart F provisions for the use of untreated BSAAO on covered farms.
*Once you receive the registration link, you will be prompted to download the free Zoom software. You do not have to create an account to participate.
