Only 3 % of people have specific written goals. 

10% think about goals but never write them down.  The first group outperforms them by anywhere from 10 to1 to 100 to 1. 

More than 50% have extremely short range objective spending more time planning vacations than their lives.

The rest never decide what they want out of life usually blaming circumstances or others for their inability to make their dreams a reality.

No, planning doesn't guarantee success.  Things will happen that are out of our control.  Successful people pick themselves up, dust themselves off modify their plans and move on.
