August 2025

Welcome to the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year at Lancaster City Schools! The summer is winding down, and our buildings are filled with faculty and staff preparing for another successful, engaging, and memorable year for your students.

As we prep for success on the inside of the buildings, our maintenance and transportation crews are readying the grounds and buses for students as well. I must take a moment to recognize the amazing efforts of everyone who assisted in cleaning up our property along Arbor Valley Drive - from Fair Avenue, past the high school, and up to the new high school after the devastating flooding that took place at the end of July. Our facilities have survived, and we are grateful.

Now we can focus on what is important.

Learning. Caring. Succeeding. These are the pillars of our Portrait of a Graduate model and the foundation of LCS. In all things, we hope you will join us in encouraging your students to find ways to learn, care, and succeed - in academics, extra-curriculars, social situations, and even in personal pursuits.

Every year is full of achievements and surprises, disappointments and challenges. Together, the team at Lancaster City Schools will work with every student to persevere through it all and equip them with the knowledge, skills, and vision they will need to continue their educational journey.

It's going to be an awesome year!

New Communication App

Lancaster City Schools has streamlined communications this year by implementing a new, award-winning communication tool called ParentSquare. ParentSquare is the all-in-one communications platform that helps districts reach everyone in their school community, from the central office to the playing field. With seamless student information system (SIS) integration and translation into 190+ languages, ParentSquare brings together mass notifications, two-way messaging, and phone calls, and school websites in one easy-to-use platform for staff and families alike. Real-time dashboards provide actionable insights for achieving 100% contactability. At the same time, paperless workflows for permission slipspaymentsdocument delivery, and signups streamline communication to save time and money when districts are being asked to do more with less.

Families are encouraged to download the app as soon as possible. Instructions are below, and will also be distributed by your schools. Use the QR code for direct access or click here to see a user's video.

All Students Eat Free!

All Lancaster City School students will receive free breakfast and lunch each school day starting this year, regardless of family income. Our district is eligible through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to provide the free meals to each student.

Our partnership with CEP aims to increase food security and reduce hunger, providing students access to food, a healthy diet, and nutrition education in a manner that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence.

What is Portrait of a Graduate?

Lancaster City Schools has been the place to be for learning, caring, and succeeding for the past several years. As part of our mission and vision for the district, we developed our Portrait of a Graduate. This program was integrated into our district to build bridges to life beyond school. Our students will be prepared to succeed in life after high school while showing a high level of social-emotional skills and effective and professional communication. With the strong community that unites Lancaster City Schools, we can work together to better prepare our students for success beyond school.
