August 2024

Welcome to the beginning of what we anticipate will be another productive, enriching, and positive academic year at Lancaster City Schools (LCS). I realize a "welcome back to school" letter can be somewhat bittersweet because, though we are excited about a brand new beginning, it also marks the end of what I hope was an excellent summer for you and your students.

At LCS, we have been busily preparing for the first school bell to ring. Thank you to our ground crews, our educators, our school staff, our administrators, our nutrition teams, our maintenance experts, our coaches and everyone else who has spent August prepping for success.

Learning. Caring. Succeeding. These are the pillars of our Portrait of a Graduate model and the foundation of LCS. In all things, we hope you will join us in encouraging your students to find ways to learn, care and succeed - in academics, extra-curriculars, social situations and even in personal pursuits.

I also would like to ask that you join LCS in sharing thirty seconds of joy with someone every day. When we share positivity, it doubles. Imagine the effect of that.

The coming weeks will be full of change and challenge but every person at LCS is here to set your student up for success. Please take advantage of all the ways you can communicate with us and stay involved in your child's educational journey.

It's going to be an awesome year!

All Students Eat Free!

All Lancaster City School students will receive free breakfast and lunch each school day starting this year regardless of family income. Our district is eligible through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to provide the free meals to each student in all eight schools.

Our partnership with CEP aims to increase food security and reduce hunger, providing students access to food, a healthy diet, and nutrition education in a manner that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence.

What is Portrait of a Graduate?

Lancaster City Schools has been the place to be for learning, caring, and succeeding for the past several years. As part of our mission and vision for the district, we developed our Portrait of a Graduate. This program was integrated into our district to build bridges to life beyond school. Our students will be prepared to succeed in life after high school while showing a high level of social-emotional skills, and effective and professional communication. With the strong community that unites Lancaster City Schools, we can work together to better prepare our students for success beyond school.

Our AMAZING staff have been busily preparing for the start of an awesome year!
