Dear Superintendents and School Leaders,
I'm writing with updates on several COVID-19-related items that have arisen since yesterday's message.
School Reopening Status Data Submission
On Jan. 22, the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) hosted an Overview of the Registration and Data Submission Process for the School Reopening Status Data Submission webinar. The session covered registration and data submission for the School Reopening Status Data Submission Process, as required in the January 14 Public Health Directive on Reporting Details of In-Person Instruction.
As a reminder, the order requires every local educational agency (school district, county office of education, and charter school) and private school to submit data about how student instruction is provided. Specifically, it requires all LEAs and private schools to report whether:
- In-person instruction is being provided full-time
- In-person is provided only part-time (hybrid model)
- In-person instruction and services are provided only pursuant to the Guidance Related to Cohorts issued by the CDPH
- No in-person instruction and services are provided (distance learning only)
The archived recording and presentation are now available on the
CCEE website.
Reference the slides for the most current details on how to submit data to the state dashboard.
At this point in time, San Diego County schools are required to continue reporting to the local (county-level) dashboard as well as the state dashboard. Both state and local dashboard reports are due Monday, Jan. 25.
We understand the challenges of reporting to two different systems. The San Diego County Office of Education team will work with the County of San Diego to determine whether the local requirement can be waived once the state dashboard is established.
County Requests Vaccination Support
The County of San Diego is looking to partner with schools and districts that may have nurses available to assist with the vaccination efforts. If your school or district has nursing staff who may be able to support vaccination event efforts and be reimbursed for their time, please contact Patty Danon at
patty.danon@sdcounty.ca.gov for additional details and next steps. Nurses would be assigned to various pod locations operated by the county on an as-needed basis to administer vaccines to persons as prioritized by the county under the tier framework.
Vaccination Update Presentation
This County of San Diego
COVID-19 Vaccine Update presentation from Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten provides information on the regional vaccine goal, locations of vaccination sites, and details on vaccine prioritization. Feel free to share this presentation with your employees and school community.
Thank you for all you are doing during these unprecedented times. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or need support.
Sincerely,
Paul
