Plan ahead for traffic changes on each end

of SH-16 corridor next week

Construction activities are increasing on the north and south ends of the future State Highway 16 extension. Here's what to expect. 

On US-20/26 and McDermott Road: 

Crews are preparing to rebuild the intersection of US-20/26 and SH-16. 


What to expect:


  • Access to and from McDermott Road at US-20/26 will permanently close on Aug. 8. McDermott Road will be open to local traffic only between McMillan Road and US-20/26. 


  • McDermott Road will be closed between McDermott and Ustick roads Aug. 4-8 for utility work. 


  • The number of lanes on US-20/26 and the existing SH-16 will be reduced through next year.
Detour map

On I-84 and Flamingo Road:

Crews are building the bridge foundation for an interchange connecting I-84 to the SH-16 extension.


What to expect: 


  • Overnight lane restrictions and speed limit reductions will continue on I-84 between the Black Cat and Robinson overpasses.
  • A portion of Flamingo Road south of I-84 will be closed until December.
