A Day of Camp Magic: State Representatives Experience the Impact of Camp Ingersoll
There are some things that simply can't be explained. They have to be experienced.
Today, State Representatives Kai Belton and Brandon Chaffee spent time at YMCA Camp Ingersoll, stepping into the laughter, adventure, friendships, and unforgettable moments that make camp such a life-changing experience for hundreds of children each summer.
From cheering campers on during activities to talking with staff and witnessing the confidence that grows with every new challenge, they experienced firsthand what so many families already know: Camp Ingersoll is a magical place where children discover who they are, build lifelong friendships, and create memories that last forever.
Their visit was especially meaningful because Representatives Belton and Chaffee played an important role in helping make these experiences possible. Through their efforts to secure state grant funding, more children have been able to attend camp through financial assistance, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to experiencing the joy, growth, and belonging that camp provides.
The impact of that support is extraordinary.
Last summer alone, 851 families entrusted Camp Ingersoll with their children, serving 1,205 campers across 2,822 camp sessions. Thanks to generous donors and scholarship funding, 85 families representing 109 campers received financial assistance totaling more than $81,000, with overall scholarship support exceeding $121,000 through a combination of financial aid and tiered pricing. Those numbers represent far more than dollars. They represent children who learned to swim, explored nature, gained confidence, developed leadership skills, and found a place where they truly belonged.
As another incredible summer unfolds, the need continues.
Our Send a Kid to Camp Campaign is still underway, and every gift helps open the camp gates for another child who deserves the chance to experience the magic of Camp Ingersoll.
Whether it's helping a child make their first friend, conquer the climbing tower, paddle across the pond, or simply enjoy a carefree summer day, your generosity creates opportunities that change lives.
