August 2016
Dear Neighbor,

I am hoping that all of you are enjoying the warm weather as we continue to celebrate summer along our lakefront neighborhoods.  Mid-August means that students will be heading back to school shortly.
While CPS is trying to address the under-funding that our schools are facing, we  will be doing our part by launching our annual Back to School Supply Drive  between now and the end of September. Supplies can be dropped off at our office, which is located at 3223 N. Sheffield Avenue. The donations will benefit students from our  local public schools,  Heartland Health Clinic, Madonna House, and others.
For additional information please call 773-296-4141, e-mail, or visit .
Very truly yours,

Adoptee Access to
Original Birth Certificates

Representative Feigenholtz hosted the first EVER panel discussion on birth certificate access for adult adoptees at the National Conference for State Legislatures.  Adopted adults often seek information about their biological families. Federal & state laws have traditionally sealed adoption records, including original birth certificates (OBCs).  Illinois enacted a law in 2010 to unseal OBCs, resulting in the largest expansion of OBC access in the United States.  Thank you legislators and adoption advocates for your amazing presentations.
