State of Illinois extends deadlines for state income tax filing and payment
News from Springfield: Illinois state tax deadlines extended
Today the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) announced that in light of the recent Disaster Proclamation issued by Governor J.B. Pritzker, the state will follow the federal government in providing special tax filing and payment relief during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The filing and payment deadlines for Illinois income tax returns have been extended from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020.

According to David Harris, director of IDOR, "The 2019 income tax filing and payment deadlines for all taxpayers who file and pay their Illinois Income taxes on April 15, 2020, are automatically extended until July 15, 2020." This relief applies to individual returns, trusts and corporations, and is automatic. Taxpayers don't need to file any additional forms or call IDOR to qualify for the extension.
