Come see us Tuesday July 20th
Next Stated Meeting & Masonic Education Session is scheduled for July 20th.
Food & Fellowship at 6pm. Lodge will open at 7pm.
Construction of new patio area has begun!
The project we started last year to remove ongoing water seepage into the building continues as we remove the hill on the north side of the building where a known leak has been plaguing us for quite a while. At the end of the excavation and relocation of the electric service we'll be constructing a patio area which will include the engraved that many members purchased last year to help fund the remodeling project.

We hope to have finished pictures before the August Stated Meeting if the rain holds off!

We'll be ready to do some brick veneer work on the north wall when we're done, so if you have experience in this process please contact the Secretary by clicking here!

Grand Lodge Sending Out Dues Notices- Online payment and donations encouraged!
In August, all Master Masons in Ohio with a valid email will receive an email from the Grand Lodge of Ohio with their 2022 Dues Notice and a link to pay with a credit card embedded in the email. You are strongly encouraged to make your annual dues payment and donations when you receive that email!

Following the initial round of emails physical letters will be sent to those members who have not paid online. The cost of postage is once again being raised by the USPS making the expense of mass mailings even more challenging for some lodges to work into their budgets. This new program is an effort by the Grand Lodge to remove part of the burden from the lodges and particularly the Secretary.

The other challenge to the lodge budget is that in August we pay the “per capita” fee to the Grand Lodge which is just under $19 per member. So, for this lodge we will pay around $4,400. These funds were collected in the 2021 dues cycle, but of the $13,983 in just dues collected the per capita represents 31.6%!

The lodge remits the dues of members who have 50+ years of Masonic Service and while several of them donate to cover the per capita they are not expected or required to do this. We also remit one- or two-member’s dues who have fallen on hard financial times. We are also blessed to have 14 endowed members which means that they have provided funds to the Grand Lodge Endowment Fund which will continue to be paid to the lodge after the individual member passes and is laid to rest along with this leather apron and tools. So, by now you’re thinking that just like that dreaded wordy “2 trains leave different stations” algebra exam question what’s the answer we’re looking for? The answer is we need all members of the lodge to pay their dues and donate to our several different campaigns as early and as generously as possible!

The use of digital communications like we have here at J. B. Covert is not as widespread in other lodges. Our lodge is often used as an example to others of how technology helps the operations of the lodge, and we thank our members from embracing the new tools we have chosen to use. We encourage to you to respond quickly and generously to the electronic dues notice you are about to receive.

This fall the Grand Lodge of Ohio will be issuing new semi-permanent plastic dues cards to those members who have paid their dues. This will be a great reason to come to lodge to again help us avoid the increased cost of postage!
