STATEMENT BY ASSEMBLYMEMBER RODNEYSE BICHOTTE HERMELYN ON RUSSIA'S INVASION OF UKRAINE
(Brooklyn, NY) -- Russian forces invaded Ukraine in the early morning hours of Thursday. Assemblymember and Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn issued the following statement:

"Brooklyn’s Ukrainian and Eastern European community is on edge, living in fear for family members abroad. Russia has violated international law by invading regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, as was predicted by President Biden and our NATO partners.

I stand in solidarity with all concerned New Yorkers, and pray for the health and safety of their friends and family in Ukraine. We are living through a defining moment in time. Let us live on the right side of history. We stand by Ukraine. We condemn the flagrant defiance of both international law and Ukraine's territorial sovereignty by Putin. I support President Biden and our Democratic leadership in Washington."
