Subject: Domestic Incident Arrest

On March 18, 2025 at approximately 9:46 am, the Harriman Police received a 911 notification of an altercation involving a subject armed with a knife and another subject armed with a shotgun or rifle at a residence at 25 Snoop Street. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist, along with local EMS.

Investigation determined that Daniel Kochovos, a 34-year-old male from Harriman, threatened to stab his 70-year-old father with a knife. Both parties reside at that residence. Officers made entry and secured the residence to ensure the safety of the victim. Further investigation revealed that during the incident, the victim grabbed possession of a shotgun because of Mr. Kochovos’ threats. There were no reported injuries sustained by the suspect or victim.

Mr. Kochovos was arrested for Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the first degree (Class E Felony) and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree (Class A misdemeanor). He was transported to Garnet Medical Center for evaluation. Rifles were secured from the scene for safekeeping. The defendant was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to Village of Harriman Court on April 17, 2025.

We would like to thank the Woodbury Police, the Monroe Police, the Tuxedo Police, the Warwick Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, the DEC Police, the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the regional Tactical Response Unit for their assistance on this call.
