Brooklyn, NY: Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn released the following statement after Democrat Eric Adams declared victory in the NYC mayoral race last night. The race was called at 9:20 p.m. last night by the Associated Press, and Adams was leading GOP contender Curtis Sliwa by nearly 40 percentage points as of this morning.

“We congratulate our next NYC Mayor Eric Adams on a well-deserved, historic victory. Adams’ win is a significant leap forward for Brooklyn, New York City, and the State. 

Eric rose from humble roots to become NYC's second Black mayor in history by dedicating his life to uplifting, uniting, and empowering all New Yorkers.

As our 110th Mayor, Eric Adams will help lead New York City's equitable recovery and usher in a prosperous new era. Eric possesses the judgment, drive, and experience to help restore the city’s economy and make our streets safe again.

We look forward to working with Eric Adams to help build a stronger and more inclusive city for all Brooklynites.”
