My office has received inquiries regarding false accusations that I was responsible for canceling the Matisyahu concert scheduled at House of Blues (HOB) on Friday, March 8th.
I did not direct The House of Blues to cancel the show and am disappointed that the threat of a violent protest had this effect on their business and patrons.
The 18th District Police Department (CPD) had several meetings with HOB and Live Nation staff to discuss their public safety concerns regarding potential threats of violent protests at the venue in the weeks leading up to the concert.
CPD notified my office of the scheduled concert on Wednesday March 6th (two days prior to the show) and communicated their serious concerns regarding security for the artist, venue and concert-goers.
Two days later, Live Nation ultimately decided to cancel the show.
