In light of the recent tragedy at Apalachee High School, we want to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community at Carrollton City Schools.
We understand that this heartbreaking event has left many feeling concerned and anxious. Please know that safety is our top priority, and we are taking every possible measure to ensure a secure learning environment for all. Our schools are equipped with comprehensive safety protocols, including:
-
School Resource Officers: A SRO is assigned to each school and is present on campus daily. Their presence provides a visible deterrent to potential threats and allows for a rapid response to any emergencies. These officers are sworn members of the Carrollton City Police Department, fully trained and certified to protect and serve the school community.
-
Controlled Access: All exterior and interior doors are locked at all times. Visitors must enter through the front office, present valid identification, and sign in before being granted access to the building. This ensures that only authorized individuals have access to our facilities.
-
Surveillance Systems: Our schools are monitored by state-of-the-art security cameras, allowing for real-time observation and potential intervention.
-
Classroom Security: Classroom doors are locked at all times, providing an additional layer of protection.
-
Safety Preparedness Training: All schools in our district conduct regular safety drills. These drills help staff and students become familiar with emergency protocols, ensuring a swift response to potential safety threats.
While we cannot eliminate all risks, we are committed to being proactive and vigilant in our efforts to safeguard our students and staff. We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims, their families, and the Apalachee High School community during this difficult time.
