The Rochester City School District learned late Wednesday evening that there are concerns related to the preliminary findings in the District’s 2018-19 internal year-end audit reconciliation. Early analysis of the 2018-19 budget shows that these concerns may be related to overspending in certain areas, such as increased health insurance costs due to our status of being self-insured and rising costs for required special education services and staff. We informed key community stakeholders of the situation in a letter earlier this afternoon.
The Rochester Board of Education and Superintendent Dade are committed to working closely together to thoroughly investigate and take the necessary actions to ensure financial stability as we move forward on behalf of our students and families.
