From President Frank H. Wu:

Queens College, in compliance with all New York State, New York City, and CUNY policies, is making plans to resume appropriate in-person operations for the fall semester.

 

The safety of the college community remains our paramount concern. We anticipate that everyone—faculty, staff, students, and visitors—will still need to wear masks and practice social distancing. The Everbridge app and Proxyclick email wellness checks required for campus access will also continue to be required.  

 

Our goal is that every student who wants an in-person experience can have one. In addition to following the science of the pandemic, we will consider for which type of classes—such as seminars, studio art, or science labs—in-person experience is most important pedagogically. Some classes, especially large lectures, will remain online. Others will be hybrid, with the hope that the situation permits them to be conducted primarily in person. Queens College will also pilot some HyFlex courses that allow students to choose a primarily in-person option or take classes online. In some cases, students may be able to participate online while the class is in session and interact with their instructor and classmates. In other cases, students will rotate through the in-person classes and participate asynchronously for other parts of the course. 

 

Given the evolving situation, it is difficult, this far in advance, to commit to specifics. But we can be sure that the faculty and staff of Queens College will adapt as necessary and offer an outstanding education to our students, whether they attend classes and activities in person, remotely, or, as seems likely, some combination of the two.
