Statement on Shootings in Bridgewater Plaza
GLADE HILL, VA -
Virginia Delegate Charles D. Poindexter (R-Franklin County)
today issued the following statement regarding this morning's shootings at Bridgewater Plaza in Franklin County, VA.
"I am deeply saddened by the tragic event that occurred this morning that took the lives of WDBJ-7 reporter Alison Parker and photojournalist Adam Ward and that seriously injured my dear friend, Vicki Gardner, Executive Director of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce. I hope everyone will join me in thoughts and prayers for each of the victims, their families, friends, and colleagues. I thank our law enforcement agencies and first responders for their timely and effective actions.
"During the hours and days to come, many comments will be made about this crime. Some will attempt to use this tragedy for politically motivated purposes. Such actions or discussions are inappropriate at this time. May God Almighty grant us each discernment and wisdom as we reflect upon the evil actions of one person and thoughtfully focus on the heartbreak of the families of the victims."
