It’s here! Brand New Systemwide AB 540 FAQ Released May 9

The Championing Equity: Systemwide AB 540 FAQ aims to increase the ability of AB 540-eligible students to receive the same information at every public college and university in California. This first-of-its-kind tool will allow more effective implementation of this important tuition equity policy.

Together, we can increase alignment in the implementation of AB 540 and make in-state tuition and state-based financial aid more accessible for the undocumented community and beyond.

PLEASE share this invitation with key personnel and colleagues from your campus—especially those who work directly with undocumented students!

CAEP Summit 2023 Call for Proposals Now Open

The CAEP Summit 2023 Call for Proposals is still open! Proposals have started to come in, so you don't want to miss out on this opportunity. The CAEP TAP welcomes adult education practitioners to submit a proposal to present a session at the upcoming CAEP Summit 2023, to be held in-person for the first time since 2019, at the Hilton Universal City, October 24-26, 2023.

The CAEP Summit 2023 is an opportunity for adult education practitioners to share and discuss innovative and effective promising practices, strategies, and other resources anchored in the CAEP State Priorities: Equity, Leadership, Learner Transition, Marketing, Program Development, Program Evaluation, and Technology and Distance Learning. Sessions at the CAEP Summit 2023 can either be 60 or 90 minutes to fit your needs. Additionally, since the Summit is two and half days, the chances of competing sessions taking place at the same time is reduced.

Advancing CA Adult Education Model Program Nomination Now Open

In 2022, the CAEP Office and CAEP TAP recognized Moorpark Adult School for the apps they created to boost student engagement and to address adult education needs using no code and low code, Software As A Services (SAAS) such as Airtable and Twilio. With the number of student registrations impacted by the pandemic, Moorpark Adult School had been seeking to tap into their existing networks to better market their programs. Their data shows that most of their students learn about their program through word of mouth from family and friends. Using low code and no code software, they built an application that is helping them track student referrals from our current students. The way it works is that whenever returning or new students register for classes, they will automatically receive a personalized text message and email the following day. When the student shares the unique URL with their friends and family, the school automatically receives a tally of how many people have completed the online registration using the specific link. Learn more about this model program, including the unique features of the program and their outcomes, by clicking the link here

The Advancing CA Adult Education Model Program nomination program is open for 2023! The CAEP Office welcomes nominations of California Adult Education Programs, demonstrating innovative, emerging, or model practices for the Advancing CA Adult Education Award and recognition at California’s CAEP Summit. Model CAEP programs must be aligned to approved CAEP program areas and the adult education state priorities: learner transition, program development, equity, leadership, technology and distance learning, program evaluation, and marketing. The adult education state priorities align with the CCCCO Vision for Success goals and the CDE Superintendent’s Initiatives.

Benefits to participating in the project:

  1. Showcase a new, emerging, and/or promising program.
  2. Share practices with other adult education programs and practitioners.
  3. A video capturing the highlights of the top two scoring programs is created.
  4. All qualifying program nominations are published on the CAEP website.
  5. All qualifying program nominations are recognized at the annual CAEP Summit.
  6. Stories and videos may be highlighted at conferences throughout California and distributed to local, regional, and state officials.

How to participate in the project:

Nominations must highlight a California Adult Education Program (CAEP) approved program area and may be submitted by any CAEP funded agency during the open nomination period. This year’s nomination period is March 1, 2023 - June 30, 2023. All nominations will be reviewed for completeness and for how closely they address the rubric criteria stated on the nomination form. Incomplete nominations and nominations that do not address the rubric criteria will not be considered.

To get started, go to the Request Support page on the CAEP website ( and register as a new user or login to the website. Once logged in, click on the box that says Submit Nomination.
