Dear Current and Prospective Summer Families,

We hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. We know that these are challenging and uncertain times, and we want you to know, first and foremost, that we are here for you. In one way or another all of us have been impacted by COVID-19, and we commit to doing our part to offer support however possible. While the Science & Arts Academy building is temporarily closed, we hope you won’t hesitate to email us if there’s something we can do for you, or just to check in and say hello. We’d love to hear from you.

We’ve all received dozens of COVID-19 emails over the past several weeks, so we’ll keep this short and to the point. The purpose of this communication is two-fold.

First, we want you to know that as of today, Saturday, March 28th, Summer Adventures in Learning 2020 is scheduled to operate as planned. The first day of Session 1 is still 79 days away, and we’re maintaining optimism and positivity as we are full steam ahead with preparations for another amazing summer. For those of you who are still undecided on summer plans, limited spots are available and we have extended our early bird discount of $50 off per two-week session through the end of April! We encourage you to visit our website and enroll today »

Second, we want you to know the steps we are taking to ensure a safe camp experience and the revised policies we are enacting in the event that forces outside of our control dictate significant changes to the camp schedule or a complete closure:

  • We pledge to continue monitoring updates and following recommendations from our local, state, federal, and international health organizations.
  • As a camp, we will implement a series of preventative measures, including the facilitation of effective hand washing, encouraging no-touch alternatives to handshakes and high fives, and additional cleaning of surfaces and high touch areas. Furthermore, we’ll continue to enforce our illness policies, ask that symptomatic individuals remain home and avoid coming to camp, and look into additional screening measures per official guidance.
  • In order to encourage peace of mind and help alleviate some of the financial burden on families, we’ve made several updates to our payment and refund policies, including extending payment deadlines and expanding the windows of refund eligibility. Please visit our Dates & Rates page for details »

We know how important camp is to each of you, and how disappointing it would be for Summer Adventures to not run. At the same time, we recognize that our collective top priority is the safety and well being of campers, and rest assured we would never make the decision to operate camp if this priority was threatened. With the constant evolution of this situation, we commit to sharing important updates as they relate to the impact on camp. It’s important to us that we continue our tradition of honesty, transparency, and flexibility as we move forward, and we hope that you’ll reach out to us if there’s something more we can be doing to support you.

We are grateful for your continued support and patience during this unpredictable time, and we wish you only the best of health and happiness. We can’t wait for the next time that we can gather this wonderful community of summer families together!

Sincerely,
Zach Elkin
