As the result of an IRS error, 15-20 million individuals of the 112 million expected to receive their Economic Impact Payments through ACH transactions will now receive their payments via paper check. The IRS is preparing to open its Get My Payment portal to allow individuals to view their Economic Impact Payment status as soon as today. It was unclear as of this morning whether the Get My Payment portal will tell recipients if they have been affected by this error.
Our team members do not have access to the status or timing of government stimulus payments.
To check the status of your payment, visit the IRS website and view the Get My Payment tool at https://IRS.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment
. You can also check your account's deposits using Online Banking or the MC Mobile Banking app.
If you see (on the IRS website) that your stimulus payment was sent via ACH to a bank account number you do not recognize, please keep the following in mind:
- If you receive SSI to a Direct Express card, the EIP should have been deposited on the card. The IRS website will not display your bank account number. If the payment is not deposited on the card, check the Get My Payment portal on the IRS website.
- If you filed your 2019 taxes with H&R Block, you may see the H&R Block account number on the IRS website instead of your own account number. These ACH deposits may be delayed, deposited to your Emerald Card, or issued via a paper check. You may call 1-800-HRBLOCK and by using your social security number, receive automated information regarding your second stimulus check. All other inquiries should be directed to the IRS website.
