TSA Introduces New $45 Fee Option for Travelers Without REAL ID

Travelers who arrive at airport security without a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification will still be allowed to fly, but must pay a $45 fee to use TSA’s identity verification system. The fee covers a 10-day travel period, and travelers should expect longer wait times at security. To avoid delays and extra costs, TSA recommends upgrading to a REAL ID or traveling with a passport.
