Dear HOWA Friends and Supporters,
As HOWA celebrates its 7th anniversary, I find myself reflecting on the early days of HOWA when Bob Wells and Suanne Carlson took a leap of faith to create a nonprofit dedicated to supporting fellow nomads who faced isolation and financial hardship. HOWA's programs were designed specifically for these individuals and have positively impacted many lives. Despite recent financial challenges and staff cutbacks, we remain committed to serving nomads in need and the nomadic community at large.
With the much-deserved retirements of Suanne Carlson and Phyllis Bickford as Co-Executive Directors, I have stepped in to fill the gap as an interim executive director. Saying that they leave big shoes to fill is an understatement, but I’m committed to HOWA's success, having served as a trustee, Board Secretary, and a program volunteer over the years. I look forward to continuing this important work together with our small but very competent and talented staff.
