Mayor's Message

School is officially out, and summer has truly arrived here in Woodcliff Lake! Whether you're heading off on vacation, sending your children to camp, or simply enjoying the warm, sunny days close to home, I hope this season brings you plenty of time to relax, recharge, and create special memories with your loved ones.

We’re excited to officially launch our Woodcliff Wednesdays Summer Series this week at the brand-new Woodcliff Park Bandshell! This free, family-friendly concert series will run weekly through mid-August, concluding with two special performances during the week of August 11 to celebrate the season’s end. Bring a blanket or a chair, invite your neighbors, and enjoy a great evening of music and community under the summer sky.

Summer is also in full swing at the Old Mill Pool and Camp Algonquin! If you haven’t already registered, there’s still time to sign up and make the most of these wonderful community programs. Whether you're cooling off at the pool or giving your children a memorable camp experience, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Please join me in congratulating Officers Mirkovic, Savino, and English, who will soon begin their training at the police academy. We’re proud to welcome them to the Woodcliff Lake Police Department and look forward to their contributions in keeping our community safe.

Finally, I want to take a moment to thank our dedicated Police Department, Department of Public Works, Volunteer Fire Department, and Parks and Recreation Department for their outstanding service to our borough. From maintaining parks and infrastructure, to ensuring safety during events, to responding to emergencies with professionalism and care—these teams work tirelessly to support our community. Please join me in expressing appreciation for all that they do.

Wishing you all a safe, happy, and memorable July!

Stay Safe This Summer with Smart Water Practices!

As the warm weather arrives and residents head to local pools, lakes, and waterparks, the Borough of Woodcliff Lake reminds everyone to stay vigilant and prepared when enjoying water activities. Follow these essential water safety tips to ensure a safe and fun experience for all:

🔹 Supervise Children at All Times

Always watch children closely when they’re in or near water — even if lifeguards are on duty. Accidents can happen quickly and silently.

🔹 Wear a Lifejacket

Whether you're boating, paddleboarding, or swimming in open water, wearing a properly fitted lifejacket can save lives — especially for children and inexperienced swimmers.

🔹 Learn CPR

Immediate response in emergencies makes a difference. CPR knowledge can be the critical link that saves a life in the event of a near-drowning incident.

🔹 Stay Away from Drains

Pool and spa drains can be hazardous. Teach children to stay clear of suction outlets to avoid entrapment risks.

🔹 Ensure You Can See the Bottom

Clear water is safe water. If visibility is low, avoid swimming until the water is clean and you can see the bottom clearly.

🔹 Learn How to Swim

Enroll yourself and your children in certified swim lessons. Knowing how to swim is one of the best ways to stay safe and confident in the water.

  • 1 ½ cups white whole wheat flour (or regular whole wheat flour), plus more for dusting
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 medium lemons (zested and juiced)
  • 1 cup sugar (organic cane sugar recommended)
  • ¾ cup plain whole-milk or Greek yogurt
  • 3 extra-large eggs
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine sugar and lemon zest. Rub together until fragrant and pale yellow. Add yogurt, eggs, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Gently whisk in dry ingredients until just combined. Use a spatula to fold in olive oil until fully incorporated.
