How to Request an Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Meeting

Parents/guardians can request an ARD meeting at any time. This video from SPEDTex shares information about how to request an ARD meeting for your child.

If There Are Issues with Your Child's School, How to Resolve Them

Sometimes, there are disagreements about students’ special education eligibility and services. If your child is having difficulty in school or you think a change to your child’s Individualized Educational Program (IEP) is needed, communicating with the appropriate school or district personnel is often the quickest, simplest way to resolve or address an issue. This resource, available on the SPEDTex website, gives the information you need to know. Read it here.

Overview of Special Education for Parents Form in Multiple Languages

Special education is available because of a federal law called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which provides students with disabilities and their parents special legal rights to receive these individualized learning opportunities. Per House Bill 3928, if a student is suspected of having dyslexia and may be a child with a disability, local education agencies must distribute to parents/guardians the Overview of Special Education for Parents form, explaining the rights under IDEA that may be additional to those under Section 504. This form is now available on the SPEDTex website in 27 languages.
