What Is Assistive Technology?

Assistive Technology (AT) helps students with disabilities increase their independence and participate more fully in school and daily life. AT can include tools, devices, or services that support a student’s learning and communication needs. Schools are required to provide AT if it is needed for a student to receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Click here to read more from Partners Resource Network.

School-Based Behavior Supports: A Guide for Families

Join us for a free statewide webinar on December 10, 2025, at 12:15 p.m. (CT). This webinar is designed to support parents, guardians, and caregivers of students with disabilities who require behavioral support in school settings. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of how Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) are developed and implemented, explore evidence-based strategies tailored to support students with autism, and receive guidance on navigating school disciplinary policies.

The session will also cover critical safeguards and protections for students receiving special education services, including how to advocate effectively within the school system. Attendees will learn about their rights and legal protections afforded under both federal and state laws for students receiving special education services.

Whether you are new to these topics or looking to deepen your knowledge, this webinar will provide practical tools and insights to help you collaborate with schools in creating supportive, inclusive learning environments.
