Human Concerns Updates and Information
MEALS FOR FAMILIES!!

One of our parishioners, Michael Morrissey, III has formed an outreach opportunity, and we need your help! Michael is a rising junior at Benedictine College Preparatory, and Confirmation candidate here at St. Mary’s. Michael is raising money to provide hot meals to individuals and families in need during these challenging days where many people are unemployed or underemployed. His goal is to raise money in the next couple of weeks to provide as many meals as possible. Michael is raising money via Go Fund Me. All of the proceeds from this will be used to purchase the food. Michael will donate his time to prepare and deliver all of the meals. He is partnering with our Human Concerns Ministry to ascertain where meals might be needed. He said: “ Your support means a lot to me because I would like to give back to my community—the same community that has supported me for 16 years. Thank you for your generosity!” We say, “Thank you Michael for living your faith so beautifully –you are a witness for us!” Below is the Go Fund Me link. If you are aware of a parish family or a neighbor where a meal might be helpful, contact Rebecca in the parish office.

CARITAS

Many thanks to all of you who have supported our efforts both in sponsoring a two bedroom apartment in The Healing Place For Women to open this summer, and in shopping on line to help furnish The Peer Mentor Space---a space critical to the success of The Healing Place Program. The Peer Mentor Space will have four beds, a shared bathroom, and a small living space. This space is for women who have been through the program, and who are now coaching , mentoring, encouraging, and guiding the new women who come into the program. Thanks to all of you, we are able to completely furnish this space! It now looks like we will be given a date in August where we gather all of these items here at church for delivery and set up of the space with the donated items. STAY TUNED for more details!! Once the apartments are furnished and occupied, we will have opportunities to have activities in the common area---meals, game nights, cookouts, and more as we begin to form relationships there with the residents. We so much appreciate your continued support of this vital outreach in our community, and of all of our Human Concerns Ministries!! For questions, or more details, contact our CARITAS coordinator Diane Jaskot at: dkjaskot@gmail.com;  or Rebecca in the parish office.
