CHAMBER UPDATES | FEBRUARY 28, 2023
Chamber Leaders-

If you came to the top of the newsletter expecting Dave's picture and usual corny message with a sports analogy or life lesson, you'll have to wait until next month and settle for me instead. I'm Lora Dakin, on assignment with TeamUpToGreenUp. I have begun a three month investigation into where and how we tell our story better and while we haven't quite made the final turn, we have a great deal to be proud of.

I am helping the Colerain Chamber of Commerce test the theory that the Township's residential "Clean-Up Colerain" campaign led by the Colerain Community Association and our local initiatives with A Greater Northbrook and Groesbeck are making a difference when supported by local business through the chamber's website www.TeamUpToGreenUp.org .

  • To begin with, the Colerain Avenue corridor is as litter free as I've seen it in a long time. Some pictures are included below.
  • Several programs exist that raise awareness that we all need to pull in the same direction:
Spring Spruce Up (March 18-26) - see below for details
A Greater Northbrook Clean Up Day, April 22nd, 9-3 pm - watch for details
Do something impactful on Earth Day (April 22nd) or Arbor Day (April 28th)
Community Recycling Day (September 23rd - tentative date)
Colerain Community & PWC Give-Back Day (October 21st - tentative date)

  • If you are participating in the Clean Up Colerain drive and have not received your TUGU decal for your business, reach out and I will drop one off, you can be a positive catalyst by sharing this message with your employees and customers.

No longer is it acceptable:
  • to throw your trash into the streets. There are plenty of garbage cans available.
  • to walk by litter and simply take a picture...it's time to pick up or let a business
owner know that you appreciate their clean parking lot.
  • to leave your dumpster lid open or when it's full, place the trash where it can blow
somewhere else
  • to toss recycling materials into the trash, recycling bins are there of a reason
  • to "trash talk" one of the leaders in our community, Rumpke Waste & Recycling
  • to assume someone else is going to do that which needs to be done...if it's meant
to be it starts with ME.
It is because of YOU that are in the CommUNITY, YOU are Making a Difference!

Finally, last week, I captured a Snapshot of Colerain Avenue and am very Proud to say, What an AMAZING view it was! What a huge, I mean HUGE improvement and accomplishment that occurs when the State, (Street cleaner) Township, (Litter pick ups), Chamber (Support TUGU efforts) Businesses (Adopting a Block or committing to daily property/lot clean ups) and Residents (volunteering time and being Proud of our litter free roads!)

Look around and see What We All have done and let me know what else you think can be accomplished together. Please join us by simply committing to make your property litter-free and attractive. Add a TeamUpToGreenUp decal that shows your support.

You can reach out to me through the phone and email address below. THANK YOU!
