Barack Obama Responds to Kamala Harris's Vice President Nomination. Former president Barack Obama supports Joe Biden's selection of Senator Kamala Harris as his nominee for vice president. Obama took to social media yesterday following the history-making announcement that Harris is now officially part of the 2020 Democratic Party ticket, praising Harris's work over the years. City to open cooling centers during period of extended heat in Sacramento
In response to a forecast period of sustained hot weather by the National Weather Service, the City of Sacramento will open three cooling centers to provide relief from hot weather to vulnerable populations.

August is National Black Business Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the important contributions from Black-owned businesses. As we approach Black Business Month, more people are looking for ways to support Black communities, and according to a new survey, 75% of Black small businesses have seen an uptick in customers since the beginning of June.
