Depending on how calm or wild the creek is, we will either explore the physical and chemical characteristics of the Tookany Creek or collect and evaluate the organisms that live in the water. These critters show us the general health of the Creek.

Wear boots, old sneakers, or water shoes if you want to go into the Creek. You can also stand on the bank and participate from there.

The River Alive! Learning Trail is a new and exciting way for families to enjoy green space together, while engaging with the natural environment all around them in Tacony Creek Park!

Six benches and animal sculptures will be placed along Cayuga Street in Juniata Park to connect you to Tacony Creek: fox, fish, turtle, heron, water snake, and a river otter. Each sculpture will include an interactive water feature, song and sign.

TTF and Habitheque, working with local artists Miguel Horn and Jay Coreano, invite you and your family to help decorate a beautiful mosaic on the base of each animal.

Launching A Shared Vision for Pennsylvania’s Communities: Voting Rights and the Environment
Monday, August 15| 6pm-7pm
Virtual Event via Zoom

How are a healthy environment and a healthy democracy connected? Join our partners, Conservation Voters of PA, the League of Women Voters, and Democracy for All-PennFuture, virtually to find out!

The speakers will discuss the intersection between our right to vote and our right to access clean water, air, and open spaces, and how strengthening one, strengthens the other.

This discussion marks the launch of “A Shared Vision for Pennsylvania’s Environment and Communities,” a tool developed by 30 environmental organizations from across Pennsylvania to educate and guide candidates for office this year – and future elected officials – on the important environmental issues facing Pennsylvania.
