It is with great sadness that we note the passing of Laurence M. Hauptman back in June.
Larry was a strong and long-term supporter of the New York State Archives and the Archives Partnership Trust.
He will be remembered as a noted historian, researcher, and prolific author, but what stands out the most is the vast number of his friends and acquaintances. Larry knew everyone who is interested or involved in the history of native peoples in or from New York.
Larry did much of his research for many of those books at the New York State Archives and the New York State Library. He also worked in many other archives, large and small, across the nation, so he knew archives well.
