Good Morning Folks,

Last week was a busy one for Desert Valleys Builders Association members and friends. On Wednesday, March 18, we hosted the City of Rancho Mirage, with Assistant City Manager Ryan Stendell and Development Services Director Majna Dukic speaking on the City’s growth, as well as the policies and practices that have allowed both the City and new construction projects to flourish. The Sunset Suite at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa remains a favorite program location, offering a comfortable setting and great food.

Networking Night at the Cambria Showroom Gallery on Cook Street in Palm Desert was, as always, a great destination for our members and friends. Networking Nights and our other events create valuable opportunities to connect with fellow business professionals, exchange ideas, and build relationships that can lead to future collaboration.

Upcoming Events

The Events Committee and staff are working to finalize the calendar through the end of the year. In addition to the April events (see details and registration below), we are planning a May luncheon with the City of Palm Springs at Escena Golf Club, a Membership Dinner in Brawley to discuss economic opportunities in Imperial County, the DVBA Anniversary and Member Appreciation Party in June, a Bowling event in August, the Golf Classic in November, and the DVBA Holiday and Installation Dinner in December. We hope these events are of interest, with more to come in between.

Legislative Affairs Forum and Professional Women in Building

Don’t forget our monthly Legislative Affairs Forum, held on the first Thursday of each month at Rancho Mirage City Hall in the front conference room. DVBA provides the fruit and donuts, and the City provides the coffee. Meetings begin at 7:30 a.m. and conclude before 9:00 a.m. Promptly at 9:00 a.m., the Professional Women in Building take over the room to discuss the growing opportunities for women in construction-related careers. For more information, please contact Vickie or James at (760) 776-7001.

Blue Ribbon Committee Meeting

Thank you to those who attended County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez’s Blue Ribbon Committee meeting. The County provided a great deal of information on current and future projects, as well as potential policy and practice changes through the Planning Department. These meetings are expected to continue on a quarterly basis. If you would like to be added to the email invite list, please contact James Brownyard at James@TheDVBA.org
