August Letter from the CEO
Krystin Albert; RN, BSN
Importance of Vaccines and Protecting Others
August is National Immunization Awareness month. Vaccines are one of the safest and most effective ways to prevent serious infectious diseases. They protect individuals by helping the immune system recognize and fight harmful viruses and bacteria before they can cause severe illness. Vaccination reduces the risk of complications, hospitalization, and death from many preventable diseases.
Beyond personal protection, vaccines play a critical role in safeguarding others. When a large portion of the population is vaccinated, diseases have fewer opportunities to spread. This creates community immunity, which helps protect people who are unable to receive vaccines, including infants who are too young for certain immunizations, individuals undergoing cancer treatment, people with weakened immune systems, and those with specific medical conditions or severe allergies.
High vaccination rates help prevent outbreaks of diseases such as measles, whooping cough, and influenza. When fewer people are vaccinated, these diseases can spread more easily, putting vulnerable members of the community at greater risk. By choosing to be vaccinated, individuals not only protect themselves but also help protect their families, friends, coworkers, and neighbors.
Vaccination is a shared responsibility that contributes to healthier, safer communities. Every vaccination helps reduce the spread of disease and supports the well-being of those who may be most vulnerable to serious illness. In this way, vaccines do more than protect individuals—they help protect entire communities. As we get ready to roll into fall, Franklin VNA & Hospice offers several opportunities to get vaccinated for Influenza. We offer the vaccine to the senior centers, blood pressure clinics, community agencies as well as our patients and care givers on service. Local pharmacies offer the vaccine as well as your doctors office, specialist and the hospital. Be part of the solution sign up to get vaccinated. For more information, please call Franklin VNA & Hospice at (603)934-3454.
Thank you for choosing Franklin VNA and Hospice as your Home Health and Hospice agency and for sharing your experience with our services with others. It is because of you that we are able to continue to remain a small independent hometown agency.
