International Youth Day
by Johnathan Chaffee

International Youth Day is a holiday in August, which is set aside to focus on the difficulties faced by young people around the globe. This year’s theme is #SafeSpaces4Youth which focuses on bringing youth together where they can express themselves freely, engage in activities, and participate in the decision making process. Today’s youth with access to phones, social media outlets, television, music, advertising, and the Internet are exposed to many different topics at a younger age. There are many different youth oriented groups that try to help youth understand these topics and navigate difficult decisions. One such group in New York State is Reality Check.
